By 2025, it is predicted that virtual assistants will manage our calendars, book meeting rooms and complete expense forms1. BOTs could also complete repetitive tasks such as invoicing, customer order processing and payroll.

Removing another layer of resourcing admin, intelligent office devices will self-manage. Multi-function printing devices, for example, are expected to be able to order replacement ink and parts.

Freed from laborious tasks, creativity will take hold and people will further liberate work. Our working experience will become more enjoyable as we are able to make more rewarding choices that positively impact client and customer relations.

A new era of wellbeing

Benefitting both employees and employers, research consistently demonstrates that flexible working is better for mental health and productivity.

Furthermore, offices and communal working hubs will increasingly be designed around our physical and cognitive needs. Standing desks, natural colours and plants will combine with higher-tech stimuli such as lifelike 3D holograms or circadian lighting, which follows natural waking rhythms to boost energy and positivity, and sensory deprivation tanks for neuro stimulation to revolutionise wellbeing.

A major focus of EU labour law is placed on improving working conditions, which could, over time, lead to minimum standards being applied to lighting, chair comfort and screen hours. This will combine with office connectivity ratings and accreditation initiatives, that make it easier for businesses and freelancers to select the best premises.

Finally, predictive technology will improve B2B and B2C client and customer management processes with better digital experiences and cloud organisation. Employees will therefore be less pressed and stressed as complaints increasingly become a thing of the past.
