Kakuro is a game about numbers. But unlike Sudoku it does require some mathematical reasoning. Each Kakuro grid contains black squares and white squares and has a starting position like that of a crossword. You need to fill in the white squares with a number from 1 to 9 but each run of numbers (horizontal and vertical) can only contain each number once.

The objective is to enter a digit in each white cell of a horizontal and vertical line so that they add up to the total stated on the black box on the grid. For instance, if the given sum is 4 and the answer consists of two cells, the possible solutions are 1-3 or 3-1. You cannot use 2-2 as a solution, since you would use the number 2 twice. A number in the bottom half of the grid indicates a downwards total, and a number in the top half a horizontal total.
To reiterate, no number can appear more than once in an answer.
